A filmmaker’s approach to generative storytelling: human performance, cinematic craft, and new ways to extend a campaign.
Case study 01 / Narrative
MARSBOUND
Real performances. A world built through generative filmmaking.
MARSBOUND is an AI-assisted short film combining live-action performance with generative imagery. The process began with real actors filmed under practical cinematic lighting.
Those performances provided the foundation for facial expression, blocking, and motion, carrying the actors’ choices into an imagined world.
Human performance.
Expanded possibilities.
Performance first.
Live-action reference established the emotional and physical foundation of each scene before the generative process began.
A complete film.
Kling imagery, ChatGPT image references, ElevenLabs sound elements, and an original Suno soundtrack were brought together through the filmmaking process.
Why this matters
Generative tools can expand the scale of a story while keeping performance and directorial intent at its center.
Case study 02 / Campaign extension
Tiger Checking Central Bank
Extending a live-action commercial through AI-generated UGC.
I directed the original live-action commercial for Central Bank’s Tiger Checking campaign, built around an unusual customer interaction that escalates into a shared, slightly absurd ritual.
I then used generative AI to extend that story through two vertical, UGC-style companion videos featuring the same characters. Each brings a different perspective to the original campaign.
Same story.
More perspectives.
01 / Original commercial
Live-action spot
The original commercial establishes the campaign’s world, characters, and humor. It becomes the creative foundation for the AI-generated extensions.
02 / AI UGC extension
Man’s perspective
A conversational companion piece that revisits the campaign through his point of view, with the informal feel of social content.
03 / AI UGC extension
Woman’s perspective
A second character’s take on the same story, creating another social execution while staying connected to the source campaign.
Why this matters
An existing production can become a starting point for platform-specific social content, extending the campaign’s story and characters without another live-action shoot.
Case study 03 / Commercial
OBAN
AI filmmaking grounded in a real sense of place.
For a brand so closely tied to its location, geographic accuracy was essential. Every image in this AI-generated OBAN commercial is geographically accurate to the region, keeping the visual storytelling rooted in the place that defines the brand.
A real place.
An essential part of the story.
Why this matters
Compelling imagery has to be right for the brand. Here, that meant making geographic accuracy a creative priority, using AI to tell a story that stays true to OBAN’s sense of place.
Case study 04 / Commercial
Credit Acceptance
AI commercial
An AI-generated commercial for Credit Acceptance, following a customer’s moment of celebration at a car dealership. Character performance, continuity, and physical interaction carry the story without dialogue.
